MegaTankMan

Never been a fan of MegaMan, perhaps because I lived in a country where I couldn't play it when I was a kid. So I guess you can't be a fan if you haven't really played the game. But I like this one a lot. And the art, code, music and gameplay are very well executed! It's funny how people think that pixelated art is easy to make. It's not at all and I salute you for your effort on that one. Keep it up.

Lambtaco responds:

Thanks, man. I must have redrawn the level tiles a dozen times.

Haha, Zayo!

Funny game, great job

It is a great pleasure playing this game (still playing), only one thing that may be better - the jumping just does not feel natural.
How do you the level when you are trapped with these nasty hooks???

Once again, excellent game

exotworking responds:

Great you liked it! The level with the hooks is pretty difficult.. One of the hooks is aiming at you every 10 secs. so you have to move. The best tactic is to move a bit all the time and spot the hooks when they come down. After some time, you will be set free and be able proceed.

Impressive

Quite a game you have there, I have to say. You seem not to have any problems with ideas, which is the most important thing. Executing your ideas is another thing, you have some issues to resolve there, but you are totally on the right track. OK, where to start from. Controls menu - should clarify that on rollover you get info about controlls, because people are lazy and they might miss that. Funny thing is - I didn't find a "back" button in this menu, so I had to close the window and open the game again to play it. Maybe there is but I couldn't see it. Another thing - controlls on the first seed were not working very well all the time, sometimes it allowed me to move it up just a little so I had to press on it like 15 times to get it to the height that I wanted. Check this one out if you can. The catapult grapics on ejection didn't seem realistic - it looked like you're going to fall down and in the next second you're flying high.
I know you spent quite a while on the graphics and they are good, but not great, you should work on that a little more.
Overall - despite the problems with controls and everything else mentioned, you have an excellent game concept. I salute you and I wish you good luck from now on.

smokinjoeevil responds:

The button on the instructions screen to get back to the main menu says "Main Menu"... right under the only other text on that screen that says "Mouse over images for controls"... so when you say people are lazy, and aren't going to take the time to notice... my guess is that you have first-hand experience.

Also, with the first seed and having to click on and off of the flower to raise and lower the platform, my guess here is that you had used up all of your super-power (noted, for your convenience, in a little log filled with the green of the power bar in the top-left hand corner of the screen). Each time you try to raise or lower the platform without any energy to do so, you are turned back into the main character again because you no loinger have the power to affect the flower.

However... even though there are legitimate explanations for why the game "failed" for you at times, I do understand that certain things could have been spelled out better to the player. Like walking through the features of the HUD at some point, and specificaly citing the energy meter that allows you to utilize your seed powers, etc.

Thanks for the review.

Yeap, you can draw

This game has one of the best artworks ever. My eyes feel so good after what I saw, great landscapes, every detail was amazing, fluid movement. Superb work, man! The only complaint - boring repetitive enemies, but awsome bosses.
Bad things (that you know of, but fucking fix them) are only actionscripting issues - you can go off the stage and when you die, your health is the same. Oh, and don't listen to wussies that moan that it's difficult - it's not really that hard.

mongoid responds:

Thank you for the kind words! I tried my hardest to make the project at least look like a professional console title. Flash's vector art helps make your sprites look sooo crisp and clean, no matter what resolution. In fact, try pulling the swf out of your browser cache and play it fullscreen. It looks AWESOME!

You can see why The Behemoth uses Flash as one of their primary production tools. Doing Alien Hominid HD for XBox 360 Arcade is a fantastic example of the power of vector assets.

Well I'll be damned... you CAN run off stage. Hahahaha why didn't I catch that?

No good

This flash can be so much better in two aspects - design and concept. For something that is only text, the background is highly innapropriate. It is almost the same as the previous one, whats the point of submitting another one? It can be helpful for some people but it's definitely not helpful for the site itself, as you encourage people to vote 5 or 0. Not inbetween. You even include a quiz where we can vote on movies without actually seeing them, which is probably what you do. As a flash artist that spends a lot of time and eneegy to create movies and games I want my stuff to be fairly judged, not with 5 or 0.

highwatermark responds:

A fair judgment in your case would be a "5".

Brief but saying stuff review

Great level designs, graphics that are perfect for a game like this, good concept, adequate hardness, fun to play despite the awful music.

4/5 and 8/10, congrats!

Hazard-Productions responds:

I liked the music....

anyways, thanks!

ha...

Wow. That was unexpected. That's why I like newgrounds, you can see what a crazy Southafrican living in Finland can come up with. I enjoyed it all, especially the ending. In a review response you mention that you have to work on your drawing skills but I think for this game this style fitted really well. It helps the idea not to take the whole thing seriously. I must add that for a first game you throw out some solid actionscripting there. A little faster will be nice though, juuust a little bit. Very enjoyable overall.

SecretSecretary responds:

Yeah I agree its a bit slow. The main focus was the humour, and Im just glad I made you laugh. Thanks for the review. It was very useful.

Good game!

I liked it a lot. The controls seemed a little wierd at the beginning but after a while I thought they are actually not bad at all. One thing you might wanna change - make a diiferent color for the line, showing where the ball goes when you hold down Left m b, so the player will know if he is just measuring or ready to hit. Does that make sense?

Eder responds:

Absolutely, thanks a lot I'm gonna do it
